FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Product benefits & sleep comfort.

Frequently asked questions regarding the comfort, feel, motion transfer, and thickness of Talalay latex.

  • What does a Talalay latex mattress feel like?

It features a unique, buoyant "zero-gravity" feel. Unlike foams that make you sink in, Talalay latex provides active, responsive push-back. It contours uniquely to your body shape, offering an unmatched balance of deep pressure relief and optimal spinal support.

  • Is Talalay latex better than memory foam?

While memory foam cradles you by trapping heat and causing a slow-responding "sinking" sensation, Talalay latex actively supports you. It allows you to sleep on the mattress rather than in it. Furthermore, Talalay breathes up to 5 times better than traditional memory foam and can be made from 100% natural rubber, whereas memory foam is petroleum-based.

  • Does Talalay latex transfer motion for couples?

No. Even though Talalay is highly resilient and responsive, its unique open-cell structure allows each cell to absorb pressure independently. Motion transfer is completely minimized, meaning you won’t feel your partner shifting or turning during the night.

  • How thick should a latex layer be to feel the benefits?

While even a 1-inch top layer adds noticeable pressure relief, a meaningful change in overall comfort typically starts at 2 inches. For the absolute optimal comfort, support, and pressure-relieving benefits, a 3-inch layer of Talalay latex is highly recommended.

Sustainability, process & health.

Frequently asked questions regarding raw materials, manufacturing differences, allergies, and environmental certifications.

  • Where does natural Talalay latex come from?

Our natural latex is derived from the sap of the Hevea brasiliensis (rubber) tree, sustainably harvested through tapping near the equator. Unlike petroleum-based polyurethane foams, it is a 100% renewable resource.

  • What is the difference between Dunlop and Talalay latex?

The Dunlop process is the traditional method, resulting in a denser, heavier foam. The Talalay process adds two crucial steps: a vacuum stage and a flash-freeze stage. This allows us to perfectly control the consistency, creating a much more open, uniform cell structure that is far more breathable, resilient, and durable over time.

  • Does a new Talalay mattress have a chemical smell (off-gassing)?

No. Chemically reactive polyurethane or memory foams often emit a strong odor known as off-gassing. Talalay latex is naturally cured and thoroughly washed with clean water. It carries the strict Oeko-Tex Class 1 certification, proving it is entirely safe and free from harmful chemicals, even for babies.

  • What is Moreganic certification, and why does it matter?

Traditional eco-certifications only look at chemical avoidance. Moreganic goes a step further by focusing on verifiable environmental and social impact. It guarantees that the latex supports biodiversity, transforms monoculture plantations into healthy ecosystems, and actively protects the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through full chain-of-custody transparency.

  • Can you be allergic to a Talalay latex mattress?

It is incredibly rare. Bedding-grade latex undergoes an intense washing and curing process that removes the reactive proteins associated with medical-grade latex allergies (like rubber gloves). Additionally, Talalay is inherently antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, and dust-mite resistant, making it an excellent choice for people with respiratory allergies.

Production & applications.

Frequently asked questions regarding furniture applications and manufacturing origins.

  • Is Talalay latex suitable for furniture cushions?

Yes, it is rapidly gaining traction in the high-end furniture industry. Using Talalay latex in sofa or chair cushions provides a longer lifespan, eliminates the flattening common in standard polyurethane cushions, and allows manufacturers to offer eco-friendly, sustainable seating options without sacrificing performance.

  • Where is Talalay Global latex manufactured?

All Talalay Global latex is manufactured in the USA. This ensures strict quality control, rigorous testing standards, and a highly reliable, consistent supply chain for our global brand partners.
